Though you may not drive a great big Cadillac...
It's strange how we often forget just how blessed we are. It takes watching the nation in the aftermath of tragedy to bring that home. Right now our Southern brethren suffer from the worst natural disaster in history. This occurring only a year after Florida experienced multiple hurricanes.
There are no words to describe the devastation left in Katrina's wake. Families are torn, homes destroyed, jobs lost. I will admit that events like this really put things in perspective. I often complain that nothing exciting ever happens here in Laurens. But, after seeing the images of the destruction Katrina left behind, I am so thankful that nothing exciting ever happens in Laurens. It is sad that it takes such tragedy to remind us.
There is nothing that can really be said to the survivors or victims' families and friends without sounding trivial. Just know that all of you have my prayers.
...Just be thankful for what you've got
